Day 2 : Building with a purpose
After letting the clay take the front wheel of our designs in the last class, in this class we were tasked with building a functional piece of pottery according to sketches we made during the first half of the class.
I decided on something I had always wanted to make - a cute little bowl that came with it's own filter.
After sketching the rough designs, then drawing proper scaled versions of our creations on paper, we got to work.
And this time, I decided to go with a smaller size, unlike the large dishes I made during the first class.
My initial thought was that the smaller the object the more easy it would be to manage. However, when it came to details, that was not the case.
But the end result was a charming little bowl that had obvious lumps and bumps of being handmade that made it all the more endearing.......at least to me. 😄
